Digital transformation has accelerated the adoption of algorithmic management in human resource management (HRM), particularly through the use of artificial intelligence and algorithmic systems to organize, monitor, and evaluate work activities. This development offers opportunities to improve organizational efficiency while creating challenges concerning employee autonomy, surveillance, and well-being. This study aims to analyze the implications of algorithmic management for these three dimensions and develop a human-centered perspective on HRM practices. The study employs a Narrative Literature Review using conceptual analysis and thematic synthesis of relevant academic literature. The analysis involves concept identification, comparison of research findings, thematic categorization, and critical interpretation of previous studies. The findings indicate that algorithmic management has ambivalent implications. Algorithmic technologies can enhance work coordination, standardization, and operational efficiency, but may also constrain employee discretion, intensify digital surveillance, and increase psychological pressure. This study develops the concept of Human-Centered Algorithmic Management, which integrates the protection of employee autonomy, transparent and accountable algorithmic surveillance, and employee well-being. This perspective emphasizes the importance of balancing technological optimization with human interests to support sustainable and responsible HRM practices.
